Not interested in a free iphone 4 but would prefer a contract iphone?
Choosing the right iphone 4 deals
Since the Iphone was released almost three years ago, only one network in the UK had the monopoly over iphone 4 contracts, O2 had an exclusive deal with Apple to become the sole resellers in the UK.
This was a marriage made in heaven but like most marriages all good things come to an end. 2009 saw apple open it's door to both Orange and Vodafone, this for the general public was great news as this would mean we would see a new wave of deals as all three company's fight to get the best iphone 4 deals out and claim as many of the UK iPhone hungry customers as possible.
One thing which has changed more so with O2 is the 12 month contracts seem to have been phased out all together, this now leaves customers only having the choice of 18 month or 24 month contracts. Being bound by such long contracts does not seem to have reduced the monthly payments which on reflection should be reduced as you have agreed to a long term relationship.
Apple seems to be keep a very close eye on the baseline iPhone 4 deals the three company's are offering making sure that the sales and pricing do not drop too low. The price of the iPhone handsets don't seem to have been reduced or subsidised very much in the last 12 months either, with O2 Orange and Vodfone all offering the best iPhone contracts it would be expected that Apple would allow some leeway which would enable better value for customers on low £30 month contracts. With over 70% of iphone customers being in the £30 - £35 a month contracts Apple and the three mobile company's should be looking to entice more people by lowering the pay upfront costs to purchase the iPhone with a contract.
Choosing the best iPhone 4 Deals can become a real nightmare too, first of all you need to make the decision which of the three company's you should choose which will give you the best network coverage in your area, it would be foolish to choose a network because they are cheaper only to find the network coverage is rubbish in your area. Next you need to decide if you want to be locked into a 18 month contract or 24 month or 36 months in some cases. Also take into account the buy out costs should you decide the leave the contract early as this can leave you with a huge bill.
When it comes to the monthly costs all three networks O2 Orange & Vodafone charge the same tariff's which again seem to be influenced from Apple. So that only leaves you with the decision of which network to choose. Or does it?
What about an iPhone 4 with no contracts no monthly charges just pay as you go?
You can buy the iPhone from Apple or any of the three networks but don't expect any change from £450 for the iPhone 16GB 3GS models or £550 for the iphone 32GB 3GS model.
