One of the greatest problems that you’re going to encounter when you get a new phone whether it’s switching carriers or upgrading from your previous phone is switching your contacts over. It can be quite annoying or time consuming if you have to manually do it. Thankfully, the iPhone 4G makes it rather easy to switch your contacts over and keep them backed up from another phone.

One method that you may use is to sync your phone up with iTunes. However, this only works if you have your contacts in another location such as a Yahoo! Address book with a mac or Windows, Address Book on mac, or in Outlook if you have Windows. It takes a bit more to transfer your contacts over from another phone but it is possible if you complete a few steps. There are three different methods you can use to transfer.

First, visit an AT&T store. They can get the contacts copied directly from your SIM card to a USB thumb drive which you want to bring with you to the store. Alternatively, buy one directly from them. The PBB format is a bit complicating though because Outlook and Address Book can’t read it. You can go to http://www.sixpak.org/pbbreader/ to switch them to .csv format. It can then be imported into the address book by going directly to the Yahoo! Address book.

Visit Yahoo, click options and then mail options and finally contact options then the import/export feature. Browse to the .csv and import it. Sync this to your iPhone 4G by using iTunes and check the option to sync the Yahoo Address book. A mac requires that you use Address Book importer to get the .csv into it and sync through iTunes just like you would on Windows.

Another option is to purchase a mobile handset manager. It costs $40 and will import contacts directly to outlook from your phone. Use iTunes to sync your phone with the address book. It is available in USB and Bluetooth formats depending on what your phone can support.

If you’re a mac user and happen to use any of the following; Blackberry, Windows Mobile, or a Palm you could use Missing Sync to transfer your contacts from one phone to the iPhone 4G. The software is approximately $40 as well and takes the data from your old phone and then converts it to a format which is compatible with the iPhone 4G. This application is available in multiple languages including French, German, and English.

Your very last option which works but is incredibly tedious is to transfer your contacts over manually one by one. This can work if you don’t have too many but if you have hundreds this could potentially take hours. Once you have them in your iPhone you can sync them up to another address book. This will allow you to never have to deal with the problem of transferring your contacts again as long as you don’t switch to another phone.

The latest iPhone was the iPhone 3GS. Many people anticipate that the iPhone 4G will be released roughly a year after the iPhone 3GS. There are a multitude of features that may be expected to be put in the new iPhone along with wish lists of features that may or may not have any chance of being implemented in the new design by Apple.

Many have also expressed wishes for the iPhone to be able to produce HD video output in both 720p and 1080i. Another feature that could increase the iPhones capabilities would be allowing an eternal keyboard even through Bluetooth methods. Applications need better organization as well because many claim that they need folders or perhaps categories to keep them organized if they have a large number. The new wireless signal from the iPod touch is expected to be implemented in the 4G iPhone which is 802.11n.

Video conferencing is yet another feature that many people wish to have. It could be accomplished by having the camera on the front instead of the back. Some have even hoped that they place lenses on both the front and back. Flash support has also been desired even if it drains battery. People hope that Apple will give them the ability to choose whether or not to drain their batteries by using it. All these improvements and additions are speculation and haven’t been announced as final by Apple themselves. It is possible that they may include some of these features or ones that haven’t been thought of yet. The only way to know for sure is to give it time.

The Nexus One is a smart phone much like the iPhone but is a Google product. The hardware of it seems superior to the iPhone but at the same time how often do the users care about the internal specifications as long as it performs what it needs to do? The truth is not too often. People want to see results and they want sleek, shiny, and workable. The Nexus One has a lot to live up to if it plans to rival the free iphone 4G and honestly, I don’t think it’s possible.

Let’s start with the screen resolution. Everyone knows that bigger is better because it fits more. The Nexus One boasts a screen resolution of 800×480 while the new iPhone is going to be 960×640, a decent increase.

The processor of the new iPhone is yet another notable point. Many sources say that the A4 system processor will be implemented into the iPhone. For those who are unfamiliar, the iPad also has the same processor type and family. On the contrary, the Nexus One has a 1ghz qualcom QSD snapdragon.

The cost of ownership between the two is where the Nexus One comes out ahead. AT&T has been frequently criticized for the data plan that is required with the iPhone. It is estimated that an iPhone will cost roughly $3,167 during its lifetime while the Nexus One is several hundred dollars cheaper at $2,707.

The Nexus One also has a superior battery life because it is a 3.7V 1400mAh while the iPhone has been previously a 1219mAh leaving a difference of about 2 hours in battery life more with the Nexus. The 4G has been claimed to fix this problem though but most of it is purely speculation. It has been one of the greatest flaws in the iPhone series though.

One of the greatest flaws of the Nexus is for repair. They do not have their own parts supply chain so if something does happen to break HTC has to repair it after you mail it in which can be quite costly while Apple stores can remedy iPhone problems directly on the spot when you walk into one. This is a big difference for people who want instant gratification.

For now though only time can tell anything. Apple likes to keep things under wraps and every specification that has been released is speculation by the analysts who have been anxiously waiting to see just what the new iPhone is going to bring to the market. It has some tough competition though.

What will the new iPhone have to offer over it’s siblings the iPhone 3G and 3GS? Well for certain it will offer much faster network access via the 4G networks which as I type are being upgraded across the current networks.

A front facing camera hopefully with a higher resolution than 3.2MP will also be included, a new faster duel core CPU which should allow for multitasking which is well over due, also a new enhanced graphics chip for HD movies and multimedia.

It’s also rumoured a new OS will be written ready for the iPhone 4G which will allow for multitasking, all this at the moment is just rumour only Apple knows the real truth.

Another welcoming rumour is that AT&T may be losing it’s exclusivity with Apple, this will allow apple to reach out to more potential customers allowing more Sim enabled carriers to supply the iPhone.

One issue which Apple will have to look into is a new battery capacity with all the new functions the iPhone 4G, which could mean a new design for the iphone which already there are images flying around the internet and even a video which looks like a new Apple advert for the iPhone 4G.
